There are many different roofing profiles found on homes and businesses all across Australia. Some are flat, some are raised and some are a combination of the two. The very best roofing profiles for Australian conditions are made from tough, durable BlueScope® Steel materials such as Colorbond®, Zincalume® and other galvanised steels.
Today, we’re going to look at some of the most popular Colorbond® roofing profiles and how they can best be used to transform your home or commercial building.
What is a roofing profile?
A roofing profile is essentially the style of your metal roofing. When we talk about metal sheet roofing, we obviously don’t mean a completely flat metal sheet. Metal roofing needs to be moulded into different shapes to be effective, and that’s why we see so many different roofing profiles.
For example, a basic corrugated metal roofing profile is like a continuous series of rounded peaks and troughs. Even architectural roofing profiles that are much flatter, such as Imperial and standing seam varieties require raised sections where the sheets join.
Corodek®
Corodek® is one of the most common and popular roofing profiles on the market. It offers a traditional look, and is available in a wide range of colours to suit any home. Many people refer to this roofing profile as ‘corro’, since it mimics the shape and style of traditional corrugated iron roofing.
However, this gem of a profile is much tougher than the old corrugated iron sheets you might find on older sheds and homes around the country. Corodek® is made from high-tensile steel and is made from Colorbond® steel and Zincalume® steel. It can be cut to size, even in longer sheets, and it represents the preferred choice for metal roofing in Australia.
Trimdek®
Trimdek® or Trimclad® is one of the most popular roofing profiles for commercial and industrial applications, as it can be used for roofs with a minimum pitch of 2 degrees. It’s manufactured from 0.35mm, 0.42mm and 0.48mm BMT Colorbond® steel, Zincalume® steel or galvanised steel, so it can take anything mother nature throws at it.
Being one of the most popular commercial roofing profiles, Trimdek® also integrates well with a range of roofing accessories, giving you a seamless and professional finish that looks great for years to come. You can also get Trimdek® in most Colorbond® colours, so there are plenty of choices depending on the style of your building.
Klip-Lok®
Also known as Metlok 700®, Klip-Lok roofing profiles are made for long-run applications on larger roofs. Featuring a raised rib that rises from flat pans, Klip-Lok® is perfect for those wanting bold, straight lines on their roof. Being a concealed fix roofing system, Klip-Lok® offers exceptional water protection, and it also allows for thermal expansion and contraction of sheets.
This type of roofing is quite commonly found on large roofs with a flat pitch and is very popular in the commercial roofing sector. Being made from Colorbond® and Zincalume®, you know that it’s built tough to withstand any weather conditions.
Spandek®
Another popular roofing profile for both residential and commercial use is Spandek®, also known as Metrospan®. Again, it can be used on roofs with a minimum pitch of 2 degrees, which is excellent for flat roofs and commercial buildings. Plus, it’s made from 0.35mm, 0.42mm and 0.48mm BMT Colorbond® and Zincalume® steel or galvanised steels.
You can choose from the wide range of Colorbond® colours to suit your home or commercial building. Many people love the Spandek® roofing profile because the bold ribs mean excellent strength and water-carrying capability. It’s a simple design, but one that’s very easy to maintain and it’s as tough as they come.
