If you’re having trouble getting help with your roof during bad weather, here are some tips on fixing it yourself.
First, you need to find where the leak is. To do this, check your ceiling for wet patches—these areas are where the leaks are most likely to be. Also, check for cracks or other damages on your ceiling.
Once you’ve identified where the leak is, you should clear out any furniture or electronics from the area to protect them from getting wet, and to make the area clear for the roof repairs.
If the exact area of the leak is hard to pinpoint, try using some polyethylene sheets to cover the area. Cut a polyethylene sheet of roughly the same size as the leaking area and staple it into place.
Sometimes, leaks can happen at joints in your roofing, or they could be due to cracks in your roof or your ceiling. To fix this temporarily, apply some waterproof sealant along the affected area.
